library renovation

Over the last year, I've been planning, designing, and overseeing a massive renovation project at the library where I work, and everything came together this spring.  I've also been promoted to Head of Youth Services!  I'm so proud of and pleased with this transformation of our youth and teen areas.  Imagine a large empty lower level painted an unflattering shade of lavender-gray with dim lighting.  This is what we began with.  Add cheerful paint, brilliant lights, fabulous shelving, stuffed animals, games, toys, furniture, and children's books - and you have my dream work place! Attendance at our library has skyrocketed now that our youth have a space to call their own. Previously they only had a small corner on the main level of our library, where parents always had to shush their children to not disturb the other patrons.  The youth and teens love their new space!  Here are some pictures of our accomplishment.

I am a children’s writer and youth librarian who’s passionate about literature, libraries, and art.

The path before me unwinds in ways that surprise, delight, and befuddle.  I hope you’ll join me to see where it leads.
